Currently, Marcelo Gaete serves as Vice President of Public and Government Affairs with Entravision Communications Corporations, manages the company’s community and government relations, works with national organizations, and serves as a spokesperson for the organization. Entravision Communications Corporation is the second largest Spanish-language media company in the U.S., with a unique group of media properties comprised of television stations, radio stations and outdoor billboards.

Reaching approximately 65% of all U.S. Hispanics, Entravision is strategically located in the fastest-growing and highest-density U.S. Hispanic markets, operating 22 Univision and 18 TeleFutura television stations and 36 Spanish-Language radio stations He also serves a secretary for Mi Familia Vota Educational Fund, a non-profit non-partisan civic engagement organization. Prior to working at Entravision, Marcelo worked at the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO) Educational Fund for nearly a decade as Senior Director of Programs, developing and managing programs to serve a national constituency of over 5,000 Latino elected officials.

At NALEO, Marcelo created the Voces del Pueblo Voter Mobilization Initiative and reached million of Hispanic voters. He also created the National Education Leadership Initiative (NELI), the California Policy Institute on Health (CPIH), the Campaign Training Initiative, and personally trained more than 600 Latino elected officials across the country on public policy. Last year, Marcelo teamed up with Univision to organize the “Ya es Hora, Ciudadania” campaign that successfully motivated over 1,000,000 legal permanent residents to apply for U.S. citizenship.

From 1992 to 1998, Marcelo served as Chief of Staff to Illinois State Senator Jesus Garcia, where he helped draft and pass key legislation providing health protection to Illinois migrant workers, ensuring the fair assessment of students enrolled in bilingual programs, and restoring public benefits to legal immigrants. In 1994, Marcelo managed the historic campaign to elect the first Latina in the Illinois Legislature. Two years later, Marcelo was Deputy Political Director for the successful campaign to elect Senator Dick Durbin, now the Senate Majority Whip.
